Indian Sugar Exports Soar Up TO 5.62 lakh Tonnes in December
As according to the trade body AISTA on Tuesday, India has exported about 5.62 lakh tonnes of sugar so far in the current 2022-23. In November, the government allowed the Export of 60 lakh tonnes of sugar in the current (2022-23) marketing year.
As per the data that has been published by the All India Sugar Trade Association, the dispatches for exports from sugar mills were at 12.19 lakh tonne, out of these physical shipment that were completed stood at 5.62 lakh tonne till December 9 of the current fiscal year.
A maximum of sugar has been exported to the UAE, followed by Bangladesh, Indonesia, Somalia, and others in the said period. About 5.22 lakh tonnes of sugar is under loading or waiting for exports to be completely finished in production.
Indian exported a record 111lakh tonnes in the 2021-22 fiscal year.

The recent changes in the guidelines have brought favorable changes in the market, as visible by the current no of exports. The guideline changes in the past has, however, in its initial phases, instilled a selling of quotas to some of the most prominent and big exporters. This drove out the small-time exporters out of the market.
