India Investments in Nepal at Nepali Rs 3.24 Billion
The data from the Department of Industry indicates, in 2019-20, foreign direct investments made by India in Nepal amount to Nepali Rupees 3.24 billion.
In the last fiscal year, India had given 16 FDI proposals for investments in the following sectors:
50 investment proposals were submitted by India in 2018-19.
Saibal Ghosh, Vice President of the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Coordinator of the Indian Industry Forum Committee said in a webinar, "Indian investors want to invest more in Nepal. The share of Indian FDI in Nepal stands at over 51 percent in the Himalayan Nation but there are some provisions regarding sending dividends and service-related payments from Nepal to India, which should be eased to boost it further,".
According to the data from Nepal's Department of Industry data, India had made FDI of Nepali Rs 25.79 billion in the fiscal year 2019-20 with a total of 177 Indian companies wanting to make investments in Nepal.
